The East Kootenay Conservation Program (EKCP) is a partnership of over forty conservation, industry and government organizations in the East Kootenay dedicated to conserving natural areas for Kootenay communities. We have joined together to develop and implement strategies to promote habitat and ecosystem management for private land that complement management of Crown land in the region. The participating organizations have pooled their expertise to take a common approach to land conservation, establishing a network through the EKCP.

The purpose is to facilitate, not advocate or regulate. Networking can help us find win-win approaches to ecosystem conservation and stewardship on private and adjacent Crown lands. In this way we can maintain and, in some cases, restore the rich biological, economic, and social heritage of the East Kootenay.
